Yo no soy pintor

Director Nayibe Tavares-Abel paints an intimate portrait of her grandfather, Faisal Abel Hasbún. A member of the Dominican Basketball Hall of Fame, Faisal is known as the “ coach of coaches.” His career as a star player was both fleeting and brilliant. After a devastating injury, he devoted himself to bringing basketball to the entire Dominican Republic, training future coaches. But this portrait is not only about his life as an athlete, but also about his secret life as a painter and gardener.

In continuation with the genealogy-driven stories by Cinema Costanera, this film is an exploration of masculinity in the last decades of one's life and the father-daughter relationship in a patriarchal culture.
