Yubarta is a first-person documentary that incorporates stop-motion animation, press footage, documentary scenes filmed in the present, and family archives.
Director, Nayibe Tavares-Abel, and co-writer, Louvenson Saint-Juste, create a stopmotion animation of Nayibe's great grandfather Muhammed migration story. Now called "Mahoma", this young Palestinian man migrated to the Caribbean over a century ago. Louvenson, a Haitian artist in the Dominican R., retells his own migration story.
